Clark Radcliffe
Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Michigan State University

Since 1980, Clark Radcliffe has served on the Mechanical Engineering faculty at Michigan State University. He conducts research on practical techniques for the design, modeling, and control of mechanical engineering systems to improve their performance. Professor Radcliffe received his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley in 1980. Prior to that degree, he served as a systems engineer with Aerojet General Corporation and an engineering officer with the US Coast Guard.

Tom Burke
President & Executive Director, OPC Foundation

Thomas J. Burke was one of the four founding members of the OPC Foundation and an architect for the OPC Data Access specification, which provided the initial standard for interoperability infrastructure between control devices and industrial automation software applications.

As president of the OPC Foundation, Tom supports its vision for OPC UA (Unified Architecture), the current generation multi-vendor, multiplatform service-oriented architecture that unifies all of the OPC specifications to provide a single standard for secure and reliable interoperability. Tom's efforts have directly resulted in widespread adoption of OPC technology from embedded platforms through the enterprise. He is actively engaged in collaborations with other consortiums to provide information integration for their domains into industrial automation.

Tom has a Bachelor's degree in mathematics from John Carroll University and a Master's degree in computer engineering from the University of Dayton.

Joel Langill
Chief Security Officer and ICS Cyber Security Specialist, SCADAHacker

Joel Langill has worked for nearly 30 years exclusively in the industrial automation and control industry. His expertise was developed through in-depth, comprehensive industrial control systems architecture, product development, implementation, and system migration in a variety of roles covering manufacturing of consumer products, oil and gas including petroleum refining, automation solution sales and development, and system engineering. His employers include major companies such as General Electric, Shell Oil Company, Honeywell Process Solutions, and ENGlobal Automation, offering him a rare and insightful expertise in the risks and mitigation of cyber vulnerabilities in industrial control systems.

Joel is also the Director of Critical Infrastructure and SCADA representative for the Cyber Security Forum Initiative, where he was a lead contributor to a report on the use of control systems in cyber warfare. He is a Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified Penetration Test, Cisco Certified Network Associate, and TÜV Functional Safety Engineer.

Joey Stubbs
North American Representative, EtherCAT Technology Group

Joey Stubbs is the North American representative of the ETG. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina, as well as several technical degrees. He has over 25 years of experience in industrial automation. He is also a registered Professional Engineer (PE) and a registered Project Management Professional (PMP).

Scott Hibbard
VP of Technology Factory Automation, Bosch Rexroth Corporation

Scott Hibbard joined the former Indramat, since merged into Bosch Rexroth, in 1980, playing a key role in Indramat's pioneering introduction of the first practical industrial brushless AC servo drives. A VP of Technology for Bosch Rexroth's Factory Automation business, Scott is responsible for product management and development engineering for the division's factory automation product areas.

Hibbard graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in 1977, and has been associated with the industrial motion control industry since that time. He is the author of numerous technical articles and papers on AC servo, digital drive control, and open control system technology.

Carl Henning
Deputy Director, PI North America

Carl Henning was a founding member of the Board of Directors for PI North America (formerly the PROFIBUS Trade Organization, or PTO), from 1994 through 2000. He joined the organization in 2005 as Director of Marketing and later was named Deputy Director of PI North America. Carl’s extensive resume includes managerial roles as Vice President of International Operations at Perseus Development Corp., Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Avantis Business Unit of Wonderware Corp., and Director of FactorySuite Marketing for Wonderware. He also has experience with controller manufacturer Eurotherm and in system integration, holds a BSEE degree and is a Senior Member of IEEE.

Chuck Lukasik
Director, CC-Link Partner Association

Chuck Lukasik has been the Director of the CC-Link Partner Association since 2000 where he has promoted CC-Link open network technology for industrial automation and building automation applications. He has developed relationships with equipment manufacturers in order to embed CC-Link compatibility into their products. In his previous positions, Chuck has been Marketing Vice President at an electrical actuator manufacturer and a PLC Product Marketing Manager and Distributor Network Manager at Square D Company-Automation Business. Chuck holds an engineering degree from Marquette University and a Masters degree in management.

Rich Harwell
Chief Technology Officer for ODVA and Advanced Solutions Manager at Eaton, representing Ethernet/IP protocol

Founded in 1995, ODVA is a global association whose members are comprised of the world's leading automation companies. Shaun Kneller
Key Accounts Manager at B&R Industrial Automation, representing Ethernet PowerLink

Shaun Kneller is a graduate of Brighton Technical College and Brighton Polytechnic in the United Kingdom. He worked for Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley) as a technical support engineer before joining B&R. As a veteran at B&R he has filled roles including Engineering Manager, and also founded B&R's Chicago office as Regional Manager before his current assignment.

Martin Grosser
Technology Manager, Functional Safety, Lenze

As Technology Manager of Functional Safety, Dipl.-Ing., Martin Grosser has responsibility for the commercialization and development of this technology within the Lenze group. He is responsible for all safety relevant components, which are necessary for the realization of safety functionalities within the machine starting from processing signals for safe sensor systems, to safe logic and electrical actuators.

Grosser joined Lenze in 1999 and gained extensive experience as an application engineer, giving technical support to OEMs. He is now a Certified Machinery Safety Expert in Germany and holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Hanover (Germany).

Simon Nance
Manager,Training & Development, STIHL Inc.

Simon started his career as an industrial engineer in aerospace manufacturing, working predominantly on process improvement. In 2003, he joined STIHL, Inc. as an Engineer in charge of the process improvement program, and in 2005 he became the Manager of Training & Development. In his current role, he has uniquely applied engineering approaches to re-establishing the educational systems at STIHL Inc. Simon is a graduate of WPI with degrees in Industrial Engineering and Humanities. His specialties include curriculum design, academic network building, technical writing, public speaking, and process improvement. Additionally, he is a certified instructor for many of the classes offered at STIHL. Simon actively supports national and regional efforts to build a skilled workforce and is a proponent of apprenticeships and the skilled trades.

Dan Allford
President/Owner, ARC Specialties

Dan Allford is the president and owner of ARC Specialties, a robotic and automated manufacturing systems company headquartered in Houston, Texas. Allford has over 35 years of experience as a leader in the manufacturing industry and welding automation. His cladding, hardfacing, and joining systems are some of the most widely recognized systems in the world. ARC Specialties was built by Allford starting in 1983 to now expanding to over 80,000 sqft of manufacturing facilities, branch offices in Brazil, and automated systems installed globally. Allford has an educational background in manufacturing technology and is a member of the American Welding Society, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, USFirst Robotics, and the National Auto Sports Association. Allford also mentors youth robotic teams to promote careers in science and technology.

Steve Toteda
VP/General Manager, Cooper Bussmann and Chairman of WINA

As a VP & GM of the Wireless business unit of Cooper Bussmann, Steve brings over 20 years of experience in the wireless and wireline communications equipment market. Prior to Cooper, he served as Vice President of Marketing at Dust Networks, where he focused on delivering enabling technology for highly reliable and ultra-low power wireless mesh networking, or "Smart Dust." Prior to Dust, he served as group manager for the IP Communications Terminals product group at Cisco Systems, responsible for Cisco's award winning line of wired and wireless IP phones. Before Cisco, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Komodo Technology, a leading developer of IP telephony products, which was acquired by Cisco.

Previous roles included senior engineering and product management with LSI Logic, Cirrus Logic and Harmonic Lightwaves. In addition to his role at Cooper Industries, Steve serves as Chairman of WINA, the Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance. He is a sought-after speaker on wireless technology and wireless networking systems for the industrial market. Steve holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering from Lehigh University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Kevin Connelly
Business Development Manager, UL LLC

Kevin Connelly is a Business Development Manager for UL LLC focusing in the Industrial Control and Power Distribution areas. Kevin has spent over 20 years with UL in various roles such as certifying products, establishing UL's European offices while living in Germany and is currently identifying and developing new business opportunities such as machine and process safety, elevator performance based code certification, and others. Kevin holds a BSEE and an MBA.

Ken Modeste
UL LLC, Principal Engineer, Cyber Security

Ken Modeste is a Principal Engineer with Underwriters Laboratories Inc. with global responsibilities for Cybersecurity, Interoperability, Protocols and Life Safety and Security. With these responsibilities Ken is responsible for technically developing and maintaining programs within all of UL's industries to ensure security and interoperability.

Ken has a proven track record in leading large diverse teams delivering commercial enterprise software in rapid environments with major business financial commitments. Kenn Bengtsson
Senior Project Manager, PMP, DC Water

Mr. Bengtsson has a strong track record of successful large scale enterprise system integration efforts in a wide array of business environments including the pharmaceutical, automotive and utilities sectors. Born in Sweden with strong roots in the Washington DC area, he brings significant exposure to various methods, tactics and techniques that are critical to global as well as local enterprise operations. Paul Galeski, P.E.

Paul founded MAVERICK Technologies, LLC in 1999. MAVERICK is a global professional services firm that provides value based automation, enterprise integration and sustaining services solutions in the manufacturing space. Paul has led MAVERICK through numerous acquisitions including GE Automation Services, Inc. from General Electric. In 1989 Paul founded MAGNUM Technologies an engineering firm which provided automation and computer-aided design services.

He attended Southern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering in 1983. Paul was recognized by Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Program as the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year for the State of Illinois in 2002. Paul is a graduate of the GE executive management school in Crotonville, NY. He is also a graduate of President's executive education program at Harvard Business School. Paul is a licensed professional engineer, certified automation professional (CAP), a Fellow Member of the International Society of Automation and an inaugural member of the Southern Illinois University Alumni Hall of Fame.

Steven P. Elwart, P.E. PhD
Director of Systems Engineering, Ergon Refining, Inc.

Steve Elwart has spent 35 years in the Oil Industry, covering the areas of Exploration & Production and Refining.  Currently he is the Director of Systems Engineering of Ergon Refining, Inc.  He is responsible for the IT and DCS Systems for Ergon’s Vicksburg Operation, ranging from retail sales to fleeting operations. Previously, Steve served as Chief Process Engineer and Manager of Economics and Planning for Ergon.

Kai Mariappan
Plant Control Specialist, Coca-Cola

Kailash Mariappan (Kai) is a plant controls specialist at Coca Cola, North America. He has 25 years of extensive experience in industrial automation industry scoping a range of expertise in marketing, design, development, programming, installation, configuration, commissioning, maintenance and trouble shooting of PLC, HMI, Servo, stepper, vision based networked automation systems. He has established a reliable remote diagnostic system for packaging machines in Coca Cola. His invention of an online cocked cap inspection and rejection system is being replicated in many of the Coca Cola plants in North America. He comes from a diverse cultural background and has travelled widely in India, Europe and USA. He is fluent in four languages. He has a degree in Instrumentation and Controls engineering from Madras Institute of Technology and an MBA from Indira Gandhi University. Also he has a mini MBA from Opus school of business, St Thomas, Minneapolis and a certificate in leadership and team management from the University of Minnesota.
Akram Hossain
Professor, Purdue University Calumet

Akram Hossain is a professor in the department of Engineering Technology and Director of the Center for Packaging Machinery Industry at Purdue University Calumet, Hammond, IN. He worked eight years in the industry at various capacities. He has been working with Purdue University Calumet for the past 24 years. He consults for the industry on process control, packaging machinery system design, control and related disciplines. He is a senior member of IEEE. Mark Moorhead

Mark is Corporate Director of Marketing for WS Packaging Group. From 1992 to September 2006, Mark was Director of Marketing for Appleton Papers, the world’s leading manufacturer of carbonless, thermal and specialty papers. He also previously held marketing and sales positions with Formica Corporation and Eljer Plumbingware.

Mark Moorhead earned his BS in Marketing from The Pennsylvania State University and attended the executive education program at The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania with an emphasis in marketing and finance.

Tom Egan

Tom Egan joined the PMMI staff in 2003 following more than 20 years in the packaging industry during which he was also an active PMMI member. His time in the field included tenures at Barry-Wehmiller Design Group and as Vice President, Marketing & Sales, for Hoppmann Corporation. Steve Stegora has over 25 years of experience implementing robotic and traditional automation for packaging, palletizing and material handling. Sid Venkatesh
Associate Technical Fellow, Boeing

Sid is an Associate Technical Fellow, working in the Boeing Research and Technology department since 1986. In this capacity, he develops and supports just-in-time manufacturing, with a focus on emergent machining requirements. Sid is also the Chair of the Organization for Machine Automation and Control (OMAC), a 500-member strong global organization for the support of machine automation and manufacturing.

Paul Redwood has over 25 years experience in the consumer packaged goods industry. He has worked for Kraft Foods, Reckitt Benkiser, Unilever, and Church & Dwight. He joined C & D in 2010 as the R & D Equipment Engineering Manager where he is responsible for improving the critical interface between packaging materials and machinery for new product launches.


Bryan Griffen
Electrical and Automation Engineering Manager, Nestlé

Bryan has been an engineer with Nestlé since 1998, where he started as an electrical and automation engineer for a final packing facility.  He has gained global experience in both operations and R&D within Nestlé.  He is currently the manager of electrical and automation engineering at Nestlé’s global headquarters in Switzerland.  Bryan also serves on the OMAC Board of Directors, and as chair of the OMAC Packaging Workgroup.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University.
